Things are going to be much different for the employees working at Lucknow Municipal Corporation from 1st Jan, 2021. To increase the efficiency of the workers and higher level officers and reduce the instances of late comings, the government has now decided the use of Lucknow 311 app to register attendance and calculate salary. Now each and every employee under the Lucknow municipal corporation will have to take a selfie when they reach their office in the morning and add it to the app along with the location. The same has to be repeated in the evening. Around 4000 employees will be registering their attendance using the app. Any employee failing to do so, will be considered as an absentee. This way, the salary for the month will be calculated based on the working days registered on the app. The system was introduced after biometric system failed a few years back.

In the first week of December 2020, Porbandar-Chhaya 311 app was launched by the Porbandar-Chhaya joint municipality. An event was planned for app launch and it was inaugurated by Babubhai Bokhiriya, MLA Porbandar. The app will help the residents to raise complaints regarding issues with streetlights, cleanliness, water supply, etc. The complaint can be registered by the residents online on the app. They can take photos and simply upload them on the app when raising an issue. The app comes with GPS feature which will enable the authorities to pinpoint the local workers and resolve the issue at the earliest.

Apart from that, the application will also offer information regarding different places like parks, e-libraries, etc. to the residents. They will also be able to collect traffic information using the app.

In order to help Ujjain Municipality carry out their tasks efficiently and let customers register their complaints, UMC Sewa (Citizen App) was launched on 3rd October 2020. The event was inaugurated by Anil Firojiya- MP, Mohan Yadav- Higher Education Minister, Ashish Singh –Collector, and Kshitij Singhal- executive director and commissioner of USCL. The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store and used to access the various services offered by Ujjain Municipality. To start using the app, the residents need to register in it using their mobile number. More than 100 residents downloaded and used the app on the first day of launch.

The residents can also use this app to register various issues like strayed animals, uncleanness, lack of lightning, unavailability of drinking water, etc. In case residents find that certain area in the city is not cleaned daily or the garbage collection truck does not come daily then they can simply take the photos related to the issue and upload it on the app. The officials are obliged to resolve the matter within the stipulated time and upload images showing the work has been done. Moreover, the complaints registered on the UMC Sewa will be directly visible on the official Smartcity 311 app. Additionally, the app can even be used to access services like getting a birth certificate, death certificate, water tax bill, etc.

One such effort was made by the civic body of Indore where they introduced a new feature into their existing Indore 311 app. The results were terrific. It helped the local government to control the spread of the disease, decrease mortality rate and manage people in self-quarantine. The app even helped authorities to take the sick to the hospitals quickly thus saving lives and controlling spread. Recently, PMO noticed the good work of the app and asked for its details. It is hinted that the app might be included in the radio programme of PM Narendra Modi, “Mann Ki Baat”, which is aired on All India Radio, DD National and DD News.

Indore 311 app has been developed with the aim of helping the Indore residents reach the municipality with ease for utility services and for complaints. Keeping the current scenario in mind, we have added in some new features in the 311 app which can help people get benefited during the lockdown days. This includes a major one like booking groceries online. This means the residents can place their booking through the app and the groceries will be delivered at their doorstep. As per corporation commissioner Ashish Singh, the app has been facilitated enough to deliver door-to-door service. Currently, 1400 local shopkeepers have become part of this initiative and out of that 1100 have got their curfew passes which means they can deliver on their own. From all this, the main intention is to keep the local public indoors and stop from making any public interactions that can lead to the spread of the disease.

In order to keep a check on rising cases of COVID-19 in Indore, the government authorities have included some new features in the app which will help to track and take care of asymptomatic patients who are at their homes. The features have been added based on the guidelines of Indian Medical Association and has been even made available for treating patients who have mild symptoms and wish to stay at home.
App asks certain questions and the user is supposed to answer them every day correctly. It even comes with a pulse oximeter that helps to measure the pulse rate and oxygen level at home. The app uses GPS and so if the user steps outside their home and moves just 100 meters away an alert will be sent to the authorities. They will reach the user and send him or her back to their home.

Lucknow Municipal Corporation came up with the Smart Cities Mission and under that they launched the command and control centre six months back. To use this service, people have to download and install the Lucknow Smart City app on their Android or iOS phones. Now, here the user can register any grievance they have regarding any kind of civic issues within the city limit. The command and control centre can be used to register complaints regarding garbage disposal, water and electricity supply, transportation, streetlights and stray animals. Before lodging a compliant, the user has to activate the GPS on their smartphones. The app works on MSI technology and comes with a log system. It will then forward the message to the right department and will even detect the location of the user. The complainant will be given a compliant number and they can keep tracking it in the app once the grievance has been registered.

This is where Indore 311 app has proved its capability and in last four years, 4.50 lakh people have downloaded and used it. The app is generally used to register a complaint against the local and community issues which is responded back by the municipality or any authority body. Around 3.05 lakh users are already registered on the app and the count keeps on increasing with every passing day. The authority is supposed to resolve the issue within the set time. In order to ensure timely work deliverance, they have even setup a control room with 40+ staff that can be reached through the app. The app has helped the Indore municipality in resolving public’s issues to 95 per cent.
