India’s territory land, New Delhi is one of the biggest cities of India, and the population of the city has increased to approximately 18,686,902 in the current year 2016. In an urge to make the city smart and a better place for living, NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) is constantly working hard so that the citizens do not face any kind of civic problem.

Aiming to deliver efficient and resourceful civic services to its citizens, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched the most powerful and interactive mobile application ‘NDMC-311’ that officially launched by Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi and Union Minister of State for Urban Development Shri Babul Supriyo.

Using NDMC-311 mobile application, citizens of the city can pay taxes and bills, apply online for birth and death certifications and vaccination, search emergency and other utility numbers and facilities, schedule appointments, get notifications and report civic issues like potholes, waterlogged street, garbage on the road, etc.

The Secretary of NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council), Smt. Chanchal Yadav said, “With the help of NDMC-311 citizens can make payments, apply online, search emergency numbers, schedule appointments, get notifications and report civic issues related to our jurisdiction”.

She also added, “Citizens can lodge any geotagged complaints and also upload photos and track the status of their complaint. The real-time status of complaint resolution will be notified to the complainants, who could also give their comments on it.”

The Open311 technology-based app provides open channels of communication which is noticeable in addressing public grievances, she said.

In addition to this, the application will also give real-time information on traffic and parking situations in NDMC areas. Citizens will also be able to contact emergency departments or organizations for instant help through the helpline24 feature of the app.

Considered as an interactive citizen mobile app for addressing citizen’s grievances, citizens of the city can lodge a complaint regarding any civic issue like potholes, garbage, unauthorized construction, dust bins not cleaned, etc.

Once the complaint is submitted by the citizen, the application will automatically route it to the suitable department and generate a work order that can be tracked by both the department as well as the complainant, who will also receive automated notifications.

Moreover, the NDMC-311 app will allow citizens to explore nearby places like public toilets, police stations, taxi stands, hospitals, Metro stations, libraries, gyms, petrol pumps, tourist locations, monuments, etc.

No matter what type of question citizens have in their mind related to any department, they will get answers to all their questions related to any department like Birth and Death Registration, Electricity Department, Water Supply, health Licenses, Civil Roads, Veterinary Hospital, etc. The application will eventually make the service delivery better and smart through transparency, collaboration, and cooperation.
